Two events, one shared purpose

We’ve been proud to have been supported by the Gleneagles Gala for Social Bite for four years now, and the generosity shown there continues to amaze us. A huge thank you to The Gleneagles Hotel for kindly hosting us. It’s an amazing gesture that means what’s raised from the charity auction that night goes directly to Social Bite’s work.

The following night, the British Business Awards runs another charity auction after their award ceremony, with Social Bite as the beneficiary. The energy and enthusiasm in that room continues the momentum of what’s raised at Gleneagles. This year, the two events generated a staggering amount: just under £2 million.

What this makes possible

But what makes these events meaningful isn’t the occasion itself, it’s what happens next – the conversations over a free meal; the opportunity to have your own home; getting a new job and the support to make it stick. It’s people getting the chance to rebuild their lives.

The funding raised across the two events this year will help us push our work further, reaching more people, in more places, with more of the support that makes a lasting difference.

For example, our Villages are a proven model. They bring together safe, high-quality homes with round-the-clock wraparound support, giving people not just a roof over their heads, but the chance to thrive in a real community. With the funds from the Gleneagles Gala and the British Business Awards, we can expand the model to new locations across the UK faster.

Former Social Bite employee Sonny shared his experiences of homelessness

This is everyone’s movement

Some big names help to get people in the room at each event. This year, Rob Brydon and actor and humanitarian George Clooney discussed everything from acting tips to bringing justice to people affected by poverty. Social Bite’s patron, Sir Bob Geldof, was characteristically passionate about why ending homelessness isn't just a worthy cause, it's a moral necessity.

Former Social Bite employee Sonny Murray received a standing ovation after he shared his experiences of homelessness and how Social Bite helped him change his life.

The movement to end homelessness is made up of all kinds of people, doing all kinds of things, in rooms all over the world. None of what we do would be possible without the incredible community behind Social Bite – and we're grateful for every single one of you.
